Sara King, Edison High School, 2013

Sarah King is a senior at Edison High School and is also a full International Baccalaureate candidate. Sarah has been on Edison’s newspaper staff all four years, serving this year as Editor-in-Chief, not to mention having an article on compassion in the classroom published on Huffington Post.

The congregation may be interested in knowing that Sarah wrote the foreword for George Towery's book, Touched by a Child: A Principal's Story, published in 2012.

Her sports activities have included soccer and track. She has been involved in several service projects through the church, such as a Honduras mission trip, Tri-Cities work camp and sorting food for The Capital Area Foodbank—and participated in the senior high Sunday School class.

Sarah has a busy life outside of school as well. She represented Edison as a member of the Fairfax County Youth Leadership program, has worked as a lifeguard, and is currently working at TopGolf in Alexandria.

She enjoys listening to and collecting records, and exploring, and hearing other peoples’ stories. One person commented: “Sarah stands up for herself and stands up for others when she thinks things aren’t right.” She will be attending VCU in the fall and hopes to study either journalism or psychology.
